Frank received a logo by email so we spent a few minutes reviewing the variations of it. It is currently posted in
Logo Ideas.
Frank: We should try to describe the access rights protocols
and put them onto the Wiki so that we can get feedback from possible
users.
We need a way to highlight the sections we currently want feedback
on and make it very visible so that users can come in and see what
we are looking for additional comment on at this point in time.
This should appear on the front page of the wiki and be very obvious
so that users can quickly identify it.
We need a way if people forget their password to still get into
the wiki.
Shawn I'm not sure XWiki supports this. We would
have to look into it. At a minimum we the administrative users
can reset the password for a user who is locked out.
We also might need a short description on how to use the wiki.
Such as the fact that you can edit a page by clicking on the Edit
This Page button.
Sibel: Anthony can work on building some of these documentation
elements on the front page.
Frank is going to try to get a list of email addresses for a mailing
list which will be hosted in the CS department's mailing list server.
We will use this mailing list to send updates to everyone when new
information requesting feedback has been posted; this way people
can stay informed about the project status and can help us by
inputting additional information on the Wiki.
Frank NavDat uses the same format as GeoRef but they require
people to provide the same information. GeoRef will let you download
the reference data from them and let you paste it over into NavDat,
but that only works if you have a subscription to GeoRef.
Based on the email Frank received it sounds like NavDat is doing
the lookup in the GeoRef database and copying everything back to
the NavDat database. However we are concerned about copyrights
here.
Sibel will take a look at what GeoRef has as far as a format goes and how much is public information.
Frank is going to explore the issue further as well.
Frank is going to start working on some sample spreadsheets and
we will try to put these onto the wiki for people to comment on.
- Sibel
- Research GeoRef's format and available information.
- Work with CS labstaff to establish the mailing list.
- Start a draft describing the system access rights (to be based on Meeting2006-10-11).
- Frank
- Supply list of email addresses for the mailing list to Sibel.
- More research into GeoRef database and what we may be able to obtain from them.
- Anthony
- Some short notes on how to use the wiki. Perhaps in the left sidebar so it appears on each page?
- Setup new section on front page of the wiki listing the things we are looking for input on right now. This should really stand out so users can find it easily; perhaps use some HTML or something to highlight the section in a box with a different background.
- More UI drafts.
- Shawn
- Enter object attributes into Wiki along with notes from a prior meeting on them.
- Help Sibel with the system access rights document if needed.
