Who will have access to selected data is an important consideration. In large part, this depends on the user type (guest or registered user).
Guests to the database can search and download public data, but cannot create projects, be project participants, save search results, upload data nor have access to tools.
Registered users have access to search and download public data, can create projects, be project participants and chiefs, save search results, upload data, and use tools.
Data can be shared in any number of projects. Public data can be shared in any project. Private data can only be used in projects in which the owner is a project member so has authority to provide access privileges to the project.
The original data record will not be altered by any project. Only corrections to the original data will be permitted. Additional data for the same sample can be added by project participants.
